Tigers Sweep Doubleheader with Anderson

March 1, 2008, Danville, Ky. - DePauw evened its record at 2-2 following a doubleheader sweep over Anderson in games played at Centre. The Tigers won by scores of 6-5 and 11-3. The Ravens dropped to 0-2.

In the first game, DePauw trailed 5-0, but scored to in the sixth, three in the seventh and the eventual game winner in the eighth on Jeremy Dickinson's sacrifice fly. Five different Tigers recorded one hit each, while Eric Smith had two of Anderson's eight hits.

Derek Bryant collected the win by retiring all three hitters in the eighth and Paul Rodenhouse earned the save by doing the same in the ninth. Smith suffered the loss.

In the nightcap, John Tschantz earned the win by allowing just two hits over eight innings. The Tigers scored two each in the first and second innings and one in the third and never trailed.

Jon Newman collected three of DePauw's 14 hits, while Justin Weiner, Ben Gardner, Adam Ford and Eric Reese each had two. Ford drove in four runs and Newman three.

Three different Ravens collected one hit each and Brad Lantz drove in all three including a two-run homer in the ninth.

DePauw returns to action tomorrow with a pair of games against Monmouth and Centre at 1 and 4 p.m., respectively.
