March 7, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Mike Stout hit two homers including a two-run shot in the seventh which lifted DePauw to a 7-6 win over Hanover at Walker Field. DePauw improved to 6-3 with the win, while the Panthers dropped to 2-7-1.
Hanover took a 2-0 lead in the first on Chris Neumann's two-run homer, but the Tigers knotted the score in the bottom half of the frame after Justin Weiner led off with a walk, stole second and scored on Taylor Hoffman's triple to right center. Stout followed with a single left scoring Hoffman.
Stout's first homer was a solo shot in the third before the Panthers tied the contest in the sixth on Neumann's second homer, a solo shot to left. Rob McPike countered in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer to center which put the Tigers ahead, 4-3.
Hanover plated three in the seventh as Will Pappaon doubled in Chris Gerth and scored on Kyle Barnett's single. Adam Miller scored the third run of the inning after Garrett Steinert drew a bases loaded walk.
Ben Gardner singled with one out in the seventh and scored on Weiner's double down the left field line. Hoffman reached on a fielder's choice before Stout gave the Tigers the lead for good with a home run to left.
Stout went 3-for=4 and drove in four runs, while Hoffman and Gardner had two hits each. DePauw totaled 12 as a team. Pappano led Hanover with three of their nine hits, while Neumann had two and drove in three.
DePauw returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Illinois Wesleyan at Noon.
