Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior Mike Hammel (Indianapolis/Cathedral) has earned a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his performances in the Tigers' four North Coast Athletic Conference games at Wittenberg.
Hammel, who was named the NCAC Player of the Week, started three games at first base, batting .692 (9-13) with two doubles, one triple and four homers. He scored seven runs and drove in 10 and posted a 1.923 slugging percentage. Hammel homered in all three games with two in Sunday's first game in which he also tripled. In Sunday's second game, Hammel clubbed his second grand slam of the season. He was 6-8 with five runs, three homers and nine RBI in the twinbill.
The Tigers won three of the four games and are 19-5 on the season. Hammel leads the Tigers with a .394 batting average including 10 homers and 33 RBI. The 10 homers is just one shy of tying the DePauw single-season record.
DePauw hosts Rose-Hulman at 4 p.m. today.
