Louisville, Ky. – The DePauw baseball team scored 14 runs in the first four innings and cruised to a 16-6 win in their season opener against Anderson on Saturday.
Newcomer Colin Donahue led the Tigers with three RBI after going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a triple and two runs scored. His triple in the fourth scored two and gave DePauw a 13-3 lead.
Junior Nolan Lavender also plated three runs after a 3-for-5 showing at the plate. He also hit a two-run triple, which started the DePauw scoring in the second inning, and scored two runs.
Grant Rademacher started for the Tigers. He lasted four innings and gave up four runs. Anderson scored a pair against Sam Kaske in the fifth before senior Tyler Holt closed the game. Holt pitched a one-hitter and struck out three in four innings to record the save.
Anderson (2-4) starter John Becker (0-2) lasted just two innings and surrendered seven runs.
DePauw (1-0), whose weekend series is in Louisville, Ky., will face Wisconsin-Platteville and Spalding on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
