November 11, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw wraps up the 2011 football season when it hosts Wabash College in the annual Monon Bell game on Saturday, November 12. Kickoff from Blackstock Stadium in Greencastle is set for 1:07 p.m in front of over 8,000 fans and a national television audience on HDNet.
DePauw is 4-4 on the season and has won three straight after last week’s 7-3 victory over Albion. The Tigers opened the season with a win at Rose-Hulman before dropping four straight. They then followed that with wins over Ohio Wesleyan and Austin.
Ninth-ranked Wabash is 9-0 on the season after last week’s 28-17 win over Wittenberg which gave the Little Giants the outright North Coast Athletic Conference title and automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III Championship.
Wabash leads the all-time series 55-53-9, while DePauw holds a 37-36-6 advantage in games played since the Monon Bell entered the rivalry in 1932. The Little Giants have won four of the last five in Greencastle dating back to 2001 with DePauw’s lone win coming in 2007.
Saturday’s game also features two of the winningest programs in Division III history as Wabash ranks sixth all-time with 622 wins in 125 seasons, while DePauw is 17th with 544 victories in 124 campaigns.
