Anderson, Ind.- The 9th-ranked Tigers survived an early scare Wednesday night using two second-half goals to stay undefeated and dropping Anderson 2-1.
With the win DePauw improved to 10-0 on the year, while the Ravens dropped to 4-5.
DePauw found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard in the first-half after Brody Reinholt knocked in a pass from Todd Canal putting Anderson up 1-0. This was the first time the Tigers trailed all season.
The determined Tigers bounced back after a slow start and tied the game when Andy Morrison’s headed in a pass from Adrian Ables with 63:06 on the clock. Just three minutes later Julian Gonzalez drove home a pass from George Elliott putting the Tiger’s on top 2-1.
Gonzalez’s game-winner preserved DePauw’s perfect season and improved upon the team’s record setting start.
The Tigers outshot Anderson 27-10 and held a 10-7 edge on corner kicks. Chris Maloney had eight saves in a losing effort for the Ravens.
DePauw is back in Saturday, September 28, when they take on Kenyon at Boswell Field. Come support your undefeated Tigers in their North Coast Athletic Contest starting at 2:30 p.m.
