Westfield, Ind. - WashU scored one in the top of the eighth and DePauw was unable to counter as the Bears took a 3-2 win over the Tigers in the DePauw Invitational at Grand Park. DePauw slipped to 4-6 with the loss, while the Bears improved to 4-5.
The Bears evened the score in the third as Julia Flores reached on an error, moved to second on Josi Elder's sacrifice bunt and scored on Amy Walsh's double to left.
Anna McKee's solo homer to left in the fifth evened the score at 2-2.
The teams headed to the eighth with the tiebreaker rule in place. Amy Walsh was placed on second and, with one out, scored on Taylor Arends' single.
Five different Tigers collected one hit apiece, while four different Bears had one each.
Julia Bork suffered the loss in relief and dropped to 2-2. McKee improved to 3-1 with the win.
DePauw faces fifth-ranked Trine at 4 p.m. today.
