Cleveland, Ohio – The North Coast Athletic Conference recently announced senior Claire Ryan and sophomore Maya Howard to the All-NCAC First Team, while senior Taylor Howard earned second team honors and coach Kris Huffman was named Coach of the Year.
Last year, Ryan and Maya Howard were second team selections and Howard collected the Newcomer of the Year award. This is the first time Taylor has been recognized.
Maya Howard, who played in all 28 games and made 26 starts, led the team with 12.4 points per game. She also averaged 3.1 rebounds and shared the assists lead with Ryan as each averaged 2.5. Howard also shot 35.4 percent from 3-point range, which was third in the conference.
Ryan played and started in all 28 games and was second on the team with 10.7 points per contest. Her 2.2 steals per game was a team-best and second in the conference. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds per outing and was named NCAC Player of the Week twice this season.
Taylor Howard was third on the team in 8.9 points and 5.5 rebounds each game, while also playing and starting in all 28 games. She was third in the conference with a 52.3 shooting percentage.
Coach Huffman was named NCAC coach of the year for the third time in her career and 12th time overall. She guided the Tigers to their fifth conference title in the last six years after posting a 15-1 record in NCAC games. After winning the 2017 NCAC Tournament, she'll take the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th year in a row and 18th time in the last 22 years. Her teams have posted a 570-116 record including a 308-36 conference record.
