Tigers Tame Terriers To Tally 27-1 Triumph
Greencastle, Ind. – The DePauw women’s lacrosse squad continues its inaugural season, defeating the Hiram Terriers, 27-1, on March 30 at Lower Boswell West Field in Greencastle, Ind.
With the victory, the Tigers moved to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in the NCAC, notching the program’s first conference victory. Hiram dropped to 3-5 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
DePauw had ten players tally at least two points, led by reigning NCAC player of the week, Elizabeth McCracken. McCracken scored three goals and dropped three assists while Jamie Powell led the Tigers in the goal column with six.
Additional scorers for the Tigers were Natalie Swiler with five goals, Maryclaire Heldring with four, Carey Kunz with three, Mary White and Katie Sherrill with a pair apiece and Knubbe Kunz and Hailey Ware scored one.
Aside from McCracken, Heldring, Carey Kunz, Knubbe Kunz, Ware and White all registered an assist during the game.
JoLyn Grover scored the Terriers lone goal off of a free position opportunity.
The Tigers outshot the Terriers, 44-7, during the game, and scooping up 30 groundballs compared to 16 for Hiram.
DePauw’s Amy Clark picked up the victory in net, saving three shots. Rebecca Greenhouse picked up the loss for the Terriers, saving seven in the process.
The Tigers return to Boswell Field on Tuesday, April 2, against Ohio Wesleyan for an NCAC clash. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. (ET).
