Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw fought back from an early deficit to tie visiting Rockhurst, but the Division II Hawks scored eight unanswered goals on the way to a 13-3 win over the Tigers. Rockhurst improved to 2-0, while the Tigers dropped to 0-1 in the season and home opener at Reavis Stadium.
The Hawks took a 2-0 lead on goals from Clare Goessling and Marianna Anderson before the Tigers tied the game on scores from Sarah Ramsey and Rachel Allen. Rockhurst grabbed a 5-2 halftime lead with three scores in the final 5:13 including one with just under seven seconds left.
The Hawks outshot DePauw, 35-6, and scooped up 46 ground balls to the Tigers' 25. Rockhurst also held a 12-6 edge in draw controls and was successful on 12 of 18 clears. DePauw was 13 of 35 in clears and committed 44 turnovers to Rockhurst's 31.
Miller, Ramsey and Allen each scored once for the Tigers, while Tessa Boots had three for Rockhurst with Goessling, Lily Molina and Olivia Collier each adding two. Hannah Miller assisted on four of the goals.
Marisa Ellison paced DePauw with six ground balls, while Sheehan had five. Collier collected six for the Hawks.
Kathryn Hopkins recorded 15 saves in goal for the Tigers, while Leena Nabulsi had two in the win.
DePauw returns to action on Sunday, February 25, when it travels to Centre for a 1 p.m. contest.
