Tigers Drop Opening Game of California Trip

Redlands, Calif. - Host Redlands jumped out to a 6-0 lead and topped DePauw by a 16-3 score in the Tigers' first game of their trip to California. The Tigers dropped to 1-7, while the Bulldogs improved to 6-6.

Tori Salanty, Sophie Hensley and Kate Flynn each scored one goal for the Tigers, while Sadie Pickering paced Redlands with four scores and Lacey Bjorndal followed with two along with two assists. Kelsey Ruhl also assisted on two goals.

DePauw's Kathryn Hopkins stopped 12 Redlands shots in goals, while Quinn Egan paced the Bulldogs with six saves.

Redlands outshot the Tigers 33-11 including 28-9 on goal. The Bulldogs also led in ground balls 20-16 with Rachel Hufnagel leading the Tigers with three and Egan totaling five for Redlands.

DePauw's Erica Rapelje and Sarah Ramsey each had two draw controls with Bjorndal finishing with 11 as Redlands held a 16-5 advantage.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. PDT contest at Whittier.
