Tigers Shutout 2-0 in Semifinal Loss to Denison

Granville, Ohio- The DePauw University field hockey team finishes its season with a 2-0 loss in the NCAC Semifinals, to the number one seeded Denison University Big Red.

With a win or go home mentality, the Tigers stepped onto Deeds Field with energy. Utilizing its speed and aggressive lunges throughout the opening minutes of play, DePauw found itself in Denison's half early.

The Tigers had a promising first look at the Big Red's cage, as it recorded the first penalty corner of the match; but were unable to put it into the back of the cage. Though its efforts were stifled quickly, DePauw continued to contain its opponents throughout the first quarter and into the second, allowing just one goal in the first half.

Down by one at the half, DePauw attempted to get a jump on the Big Red and tie the game. Unfortunately for the Tigers, Denison anticipated DePauw's determination to score. In the 33rd-minute of play, the Big Red would extend its lead to two goals, with over 25 minutes left in the game.

Not giving up, DePauw fought for every loose ball and contained its markings with every attempt to advance into the Tigers' half. Despite the outcome of the match, DePauw played till the very last second of the match, never letting up in its intensity.

The Tigers finished the season with an overall record of 10-9 and 5-3 in the NCAC.
