14th-Ranked Tigers in Fifth at Dan Quayle Classic

Danville, Ind. - DePauw, ranked 14th in the latest Division III Coaches' Poll, shot an opening-round 335 and is in fifth place among seven schools after the first round of the Dan Quayle Collegiate Golf Classic. Denison leads with a 309, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (320), Rhodes (321) and Centre (327). The second and final round gets underway at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Twin Bridges Golf Club.

Paige Sanfelippo and Layla Ahmadi each shot 82 to pace the Tigers and tie for 11th among the 43-player field. Anna Foley followed with an 84 with Cristal Chan shooting 87 and Frankie Bell 88. 

Playing as individuals, Adrenne Pemberton shot an 87 and Emily Balding a 93.

Denison's Emmy Timberlake is the leader at 74 after an opening round that included 13 pars and two birdies.
