Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Allegheny scored the game's first five goals on the way to a 16-4 win over DePauw in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both schools. DePauw dropped to 0-6, while the Gators improved to 3-1.
Maddie Olson and Emily Kraus led the Gators with four goals apiece with Taylor Vigneri, Alex Zielinski and Shelby Piper each scoring two.
Kathryn Hopkins totaled seven saves for DePauw with Steph Shakespeare finishing with two for the Gators and Rachel Coleman chipping in two.
Allegheny outshot the Tigers 32-12 and held 26-19 edge in ground balls. Mary Grace Cusumano paced DePauw with three ground balls, while Olson and Brie Feeman had four each for the Gators.
DePauw committed 33 turnovers to Allegheny's 26 and Allegheny held a 13-8 edge in draw controls. Caleigh Ranjo and Ramsey had three draw controls each with the Gators' Olson totaling eight.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, March 23, with a home game against Southwestern at 5 p.m.
