Meadville, Pa. -- DePauw rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the second half to force overtime but Allegheny scored in the 99th minute to steal a 4-3 victory on Saturday in a key NCAC matchup.
With the win, Allegheny will have at the minimum a second place spot in the NCAC standings by the end of action today at 3-1. They are 6-7 overall.
DePauw drops to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference, keeping them in the middle of the pack.
Allegheny scored quickly in the fourth minute as they took advantage of a rebound off a free kick. They scored again off another rebound in the 32nd minute to go up 2-0.
Scoring slowed after halftime until Allegheny's Isabella Martinez scored in the 74th minute to make it 3-1.
However, DePauw would not quit and scored in the 83rd and 84th minute to tie it up. Bridget Brednza scored first and Shaili Kumar scored second. Both now have two goals on the year.
Sarah Donohue scored in overtime for the Gators thanks to an assist from Shannon McGuinn.
Both teams took 15 shots, and DePauw took six corners to Allegheny's one. Natalie Sheeks made six saves while taking the loss.
The Tigers return home Wednesday to face Wittenberg.
